The craftsmanship

Meindl is one of the few shoe factories based in Germany. Our factory is located in Kirchanschöring, Bavaria. Our expert shoemakers have the sensitivity, the experience and the commitment that a natural product such as leather – our principal material – needs, and they implement our own quality-assurance systems. This makes each Meindl Identity® product clearly stand out from mass produced boots.
History
What makes us at Meindl different is our great connection with our home region. Every Meindl Identity® boot is imbued with that spirit. You can find out exactly where the upper leather comes from, where it was tanned and how your Meindl Identity® boot was created from it. Together with the Heinen tannery, Meindl develops a unique product. The ear tag number of the local, organically bred cow is embossed into the leather at the Heinen tannery. At Meindl, we then stamp this number into every pair of boots made from this leather. This enables us to provide you with insight into the manufacture of your Meindl Identity® boots, so that you can see exactly where your leather originated.

We have always felt closely connected to our home region around Kirchanschöring and attribute great importance to the local production and the traceability of all consumer goods. That’s why we decided to also manufacture our boots according to these standards: for Meindl Identity® products, we only work with upper leather from organic cattle and from certified farms around Kirchanschöring – the ideal combination of sustainability, local suppliers and quality.
